The number of electric car models is expanding rapidly and is expected to soon challenge the range of conventional combustion-engine cars available worldwide. Data from the International Energy Agency shows how car manufacturers have accelerated EV development over the past decade, with the number of EV models available globally more than doubling from 410 in 2020 to 980 in 2026.
